Cyprus boasts a banking system and regulatory framework that adhere to European standards. With numerous branches spread across the island, banks are known for their efficiency and are equipped with cutting-edge technology.

Non-Cypriot citizens encounter no obstacles when opening foreign currency or local deposit accounts. Many international banks operate branches in Cyprus, offering a wide range of services. Major credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are widely accepted, simplifying transactions and payments through foreign deposit accounts. Mortgage facilities are readily available in Cyprus, offered in either local or foreign currency by local and international banks.

In line with the recent directive from the Central Bank of Cyprus, Commercial Banks stipulate a 40% own contribution for home buyers acquiring a second/holiday house, and 20% for those purchasing their only/main residence. Overseas purchasers may be classified as "main residence" if they do not hold a residence overseas and reside in Cyprus for more than 185 days annually. For land acquisitions intended for own occupation or development, a 40% own contribution is required.
